Benefits of Counseling:

A therapist is a safe, unbiased, compassionate, and skilled professional that you can talk to about your relationship concerns.  The benefits of marriage, couples, individual, and group therapy are an increase in life satisfaction and a decrease in family conflict.  It can help you with improving your communication and conflict resolution skills as well as address more specific concerns/ issues.

When is it time to see a Counselor?

Anytime! Often times people believe that one must have a problem within their relationship to go to counseling. However, not all of our clients have difficulties in their relationship but rather attend for maintenance purposes.  Much like our cars, everything in our lives will last longer if we learn how to properly maintain it.

However, if you find yourself in a difficult situation in your relationship the key to moving forward is attending counseling immediately.  Many couples make the mistake of trying to solve the problem by themselves and it often does not lead to any changes in their relationship.  Seeking a professional to resolve any difficulty will greater the probability of your relationship surviving difficult times.

Counseling can improve your ability to:
  • Feel better about yourself

  • Improve aspects of your relationship

  • Feel more at peace, more comfortable, or more secure in yourself or your home

  • Feel more connected with others (including your spouse/significant other)

  • Reduce stress (which promotes physical health also)

  • Resolve problems with your significant other, family members, or children

  • Identify and establish ways for reaching your goals for your life (those which can support the kind of life you would like to have)

  • Learn new behaviors and/or responses that can help you with those in your life

  • Learn more effective ways to express yourself with your partner

  • Understand your own thoughts, feelings, and improve your responses

  • Understand your loved ones better

  • Discover new things about your partner or loved ones
